William E. Johns, Jr., “Bill,” the son of the late William E. Johns, Sr., and Vivian Yvonne Brandon Johns, departed this life on November 13, 2020 in Kindred Hospital, Dover, New Jersey after an illness lasting several months.
Bill was born in Glen Ridge, New Jersey, at Mountainside Hospital on July 26, 1964. Bill was a lifelong resident of Montclair, NJ.
After graduating from Montclair High School in 1983, Bill attended Curry College in Massachusetts where he earned a BA degree in Communication Studies. Bill was an intercollegiate athlete and played football and lacrosse all 4 years at Curry. He loved sports and continued to play in club leagues and teams after college. Bill worked as a sales merchandiser for the Hershey Chocolate Company for many years, and was recognized as a top sales person several times throughout his career with the company.
After leaving Hershey Chocolate due to the company's restructuring, Bill worked a variety of jobs for a number of years. He had recently started to focus on his childhood passion for art and photography and was looking forward to future business ventures. He was a true inspiration as he pursued these interests, while also managing chronic health issues due to diabetes. No matter what happened in life, Bill kept a positive attitude and moved forward, regardless of the challenges he faced. He was always willing to help friends and family who needed assistance in any way. Bill loved to travel and was always planning his next adventure. Those who had the pleasure of knowing him will remember him as the guy who loved a good party and enjoyed spending time with friends and family.
He was predeceased by his beloved father William E. Johns, Sr., and mother Vivian Y. Johns, who recently passed in May 2020.
Bill is survived by his brother Jeffrey D. Johns, sister-in-law Theresa A. Johns, nephew Jeffrey D. Johns, Jr., and nieces Vanessa V. Johns and Tanisha C. Clark (Florida), as well as two surviving aunts Suluki Id-Deen (Florida) and Juanita Wilson (North Carolina), along with a host of cousins and other beloved relatives and friends.
