Ruth Satterwhite (nee Henderson) was born in Dinwiddie, Virginia to the late Bertram Sr. and Lillie Mae Henderson.
She was the eldest of 10 siblings and was the last to transition at the age of 100.
Ruth moved to Montclair at a very young age where she attended the Montclair public school system. Graduating from Montclair High School.
She was employed at Bendix Aviation in Teterboro, N.J. She was involved in producing products used by all the space vehicles developed in our country, until she retired.
Ruth married Solomon Leslie Satterwhite in 1967. They were married 49 years until his passing in 2016. Together, she helped to raise his 2 children.
In 1995, Ruth and Solomon joined Christ Church in Montclair, where they were active members, he, until his passing and she, until her health would no longer allow her to continue to serve.
In her later years she enjoyed the Senior activities at the Dew Drop Inn, and traveling on trips to Atlantic City, sponsored by her late husband’s best friend Samuel Debnam.
Despite living her life in New Jersey, Ruth was well loved by many and was cherished by her family in Virginia.
Ruth leaves to cherish six grandchildren, 24 nieces and nephews, as well as great and great great nieces and nephews.
