Robert Otis Little was born on Wednesday, January 25, 1956, in Montclair, New Jersey to the late Verneader Wright Little and Jethro C. Little. Otis enjoyed a splendid, wonderful childhood in the township of Montclair with his siblings Curtis, William and Denise. Suddenly, life changed. William entered the Air Force and Otis, Curtis and Denise relocated to Newark, New Jersey where they flourished and matured into vibrant, young people.
As a young boy, Otis with his girlfriend, Freda became parents to two beautiful children, the first a girl named Joanne and a boy named Charles who resided in Newark, New Jersey. He didn’t become the father he wanted to be with his children but his love for them and yearning for them never ceased. As quickly as this time passed, Otis continued to chart his course to be a contributing, man of society. Although, he crossed many paths, too numerous to mention along with his late best friend, Leslie. He finally reached the pinnacle of happiness after he relocated to Florida with his sister.
Otis met and fell in love with his late wife, Betty Jean Brinson. He was filled with joy and happiness after the birth of his son, Robert Otis Little, II. Otis always had a sense of purpose. He had strong values instilled in his blood by his mother. He lovingly raised his son and instilled in this beautiful child, independence, character, self-confidence and a sense of determined purpose. Otis and Betty welcomed their second child, a beautiful baby girl named Verneader after his beloved mother. Verneader lived three days and her spirit went home to rest in the arms of GOD. Otis channeled his energy into his son. Robert aka Robbie became a caring young man whose love for his father matures daily and thrives within him. Robbie’s passion for family stems from the characterization built within him from his mother and father. Robbie applies those lessons daily. Otis used to tell Robbie, “I want you to be a better man than me.” Robbie’s growth without hesitation is continually flourishing. His proudest moment, the day Robbie married his wife, Courtney
Otis also loved and adored his niece, Karima who always brought joy to his heart and much laughter. She always assisted him when he required some form of research Karima was right there to assist him. Otis only wanted the best for his niece. He often spoke about her accomplishments and her wonderful, blessed heart. He would say, “I got to call Karima, so she can start looking into a place for me in Montclair.” Otis always wanted to go home. He wanted to be close to his son and beautiful grandchildren, his mother, brother in Newark and niece.
Life reflections at times like this are not easy, but Otis leaves behind many cherish memories and precious people: his four beautiful children, Joanne, Charles, Robbie and Verneader; his grandchildren, Robert Little, III aka Trey…the phenomenal baller, Kylie McCoy, Kacey Little and Aretyu Little, his beautiful, daughter-in-law Courtney; William, Curtis and Denise his siblings along with loving cousins, family and friends.
Otis shall be missed…for as long as the sun touches the sky.
