Patricia Anne (Caldwell) Morgan

On August 7, 2026, Patricia Anne "Annie" Morgan, 84, returned to the arms of her Lord at Mountainside Hospital in Glen Ridge, NJ—bringing her life full circle in the exact place where her journey began on August 16, 1941.
 
The eldest child of Ernest and Lillie Caldwell, Annie grew up in Montclair alongside her five siblings. After graduating from the Montclair Public Schools, she followed her heart into early childhood education, earning her Associate Degree from Essex County College.

In 1959, Patricia married Claude Morgan, Sr., and their union was blessed with four children: Claude, Dana, Robert, and Lisa Ann. She was also the proud and loving mother of David, and together her five children represent a lasting part of the love and legacy she leaves behind.
 
Annie’s love for children was her calling. From her early days at Montclair Development Head Start to her years as a Kindergarten Teacher in the Montclair School System, she shaped the lives of countless local youth. Retirement couldn't slow Annie down; she went right back to work at the Montclair YMCA, transitioning seamlessly to the new facility when it opened because she simply loved being around her community.
 
A woman of deep and evolving faith, Annie worshipped at St. Peter Claver and St. Paul’s Baptist Church before helping to anchor New Vision Baptist Church in East Orange, founded by her late godson Andre Jackson. There, she proudly and gracefully served as a Mother of the Church.
 
Annie was the life of the party. Whether she was playing ball with the Montclair Red Caps, cruising the seas, shopping, or getting her hair done, she did it with a signature smile. She loved music, and even if she couldn't quite catch the beat, she was always the first one on the dance floor. She was a woman of action—if you said "let's go," Annie was already packed for the family vacation or church trip. She was a fiercely supportive matriarch who expected respect, but gave unconditional love. Above all, if you were looking for Annie, you only had to look as far as the sidelines, bleachers, or auditoriums of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren's events, where she was always their biggest cheerleader.
 
Annie is reunited in Heaven with her parents; her husband, Claude Sr.; her daughter, Lisa Ann; and her siblings Lela, Ermet “Boobie”, Ernest, and Freddy.

Her vibrant spirit lives on through her four devoted sons: Claude, Dana, Robert, and David; her sister, Roberta Caldwell; and sister-in-law, Winifred Hayes. Her legacy flourishes through her three grandchildren, Quia Sherman, Heather Hickman, and Isaiah Morgan; her six great-grandchildren; and her precious great-great-granddaughter, alongside a large, loving network of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
