Mary Elinor Lisa Barbour

Mary Elinor Lisa Barbour, lovingly known by most as Candy, was born on November 25, 1954 in Glen Ridge New Jersey. She was the youngest of three children born to Clarence and Barbara Hackney. Candy was raised in Montclair New Jersey and graduated Montclair High school in June 1972. On November 10, 1973 she married Bruce Barbour and from that union they reared two Daughters Dawn and Darlene. Mary worked at Mutual Benefit from 1971 until 1977 and then in 1978 after the birth of her daughter Darlene, she went to work for New Jersey Bell (now Verizon) until she retired in 2008. Mary was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses in 1973 and was an active member of the Montclair North congregation for many years. She enjoyed sharing with others her hope of God’s promise of a resurrection from the dead back to a healthy, youthful, everlasting life here on earth.

She was predeceased by her husband Bruce and is survived by her parents Clarence and Barbara Hackney and sisters Deborah Cook and Christine Delaney. Her two daughters Dawn and Darlene (David Sr.), six grandchildren Tanya, Talia, Amber, David Jr (DJ), Jordan, and Darlynn (Mia), and one great grandchild Serene. She also leaves a multitude of cousins,  nieces, nephews, friends, and relatives.
