Marjorie Burchell lovingly known as “Mar” was born on April 4,1933 in Glenridge, New Jersey to the late Evelyn & John Gales. Marjorie was the youngest of five children, where she was raised in Montclair and attended the Montclair public school system.
At the age of 18, Marjorie started her career as a hospital attendant at Essex County Hospital where she retired after 46 long years. In 1954, Marjorie met and married the late Wilfred Burchell.
Following Marjorie’s retirement in 2002, she was so excited to begin her life of leisure and immediately developed a passion for traveling to Atlantic City Casinos. She loved her pets “Dink, Snoop and Eric” and truly enjoyed shopping and decorating her home. Mar also enjoyed spending quality time with her family and friends.
Marjorie was a very loving, generous, caring and kind-hearted woman of many words. She was very outspoken and would always speak her mind. “To know Mar is to love her.”
Marjorie was preceded in death by her mother, father, husband, three siblings Evelyn, Doris and John.
Marjorie leaves to cherish the memory of her life; her devoted daughter, Dora Young, sister Elizabeth Gales, nieces Marjorie Walker, Theresa Lee-Johnson and Yvonne Johnson. Her grandchildren; Robyn, Patryce, Anthony, Amber Young and Amiri Wilson, eight great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family, friends and loved ones.
