Laura Feire passed away after a four-year bout with pancreatic cancer. She was a real warrior, fighting that battle steadily with humor, dignity, and grace. Her family was with her during her final days, and she was at peace.
Laura’s family, friends, and the Montclair community will remember her as someone who loved to make people laugh and to give generously of her time to help others. She was a great mom to her daughter, Molly Feire-Hirsch, whom she loved with all her heart. And she was a real comedian and shared a million laughs for decades with her co-parent and friend of 37 years, Amy Hirsch. Laura was extremely close to and deeply loved her sisters and their husbands — Roberta and Tom Rapier, and Paula and Stanley Seegull. She adored her niece Fran Seegull, her
nephew Peter Seegull, and her great-nephew Aidan Seegull from her side of the family. And from Amy’s side, Laura deeply loved nephews Jason Hirsch, Matthew Hirsch, Danny Mucci, and Michael Hirsch and nieces Sara Hirsch, Jessica Hirsch, and Kaitlyn Hirsch. She was very close to Amy’s brothers and their wives – Randy and Cheryl Hirsch, and Jordan and Kathy Hirsch. She even remained close to her former mother-in law, Frances Hirsch, which shows how big her heart was.
Laura mainly worked in publishing. She worked for Penthouse in her early years, then book publishing, and then transitioned to helping provide food and other services to people in need through Toni’s Kitchen in Montclair, and later at The Montclair Inn, a residence for seniors.
There are no words to describe the depth of our loss, but we are gratified Laura was
ready and passed peacefully. A celebration of her life is planned for the fall.
