Greg’s Journey
Greg was a sales and marketing professional with over 30 years of diversified corporate brokage business development, relationship management, media relations, mutual funds, and financial services sales. During his career, he worked at Dreyfus Funds as a Financial Consultant, Perth Advisors LLC, Vice President Capital Raising/Placement Agent, and Oppenheimer Funds as Vice President of Media Relations. At Oppenheimer Funds, Greg led major media campaigns and managed public relations during critical events, demonstrating leadership and resilience.
During the second attack on September 11, 2001, while working at Oppenheimer Funds in the World Trade Center, he quickly instructed his colleagues to evacuate. He calmly directed everyone toward the nearest exit and ensured no one was left behind, demonstrating remarkable leadership under pressure—a decision that saved his life and the lives of many others.
After leaving Oppenheimer Funds in 2004, he decided to pursue a new challenge and became the owner of a dry cleaner called OXXO Care Cleaners, located in Fair lawn, New Jersey. Driven by a desire for greater independence and to become more involved in his community, this career change marked a significant new chapter in his life. Following several years of managing his business through a tough economic downturn, Greg chose to return to the financial sector, the area in which he was most experienced and excelled. Greg spent his last years working with James Abate of Horizon Investments LLC, Heartwood Funds (formerly known as Centre Assets Management LLC), as Managing Director until his Passing February 12, 2026. His work called for tireless business travel to many countries including Africa & the Middle East. He loved exploring new cultures during his business trips, such as sampling cultural foods in all the countries he visited.
Greg had a kind and gentle soul and enjoyed having fun with friends and family. He was always a class act with a heart of gold. Greg shared his wonderful smile that could brighten any room and his kind heart with everyone he met, making each person feel valued and uplifted. Greg was an avid golf player. He found comfort and peace on the greens. The quiet rustle of the wind and the steady rhythm of his swing helped him leave his worries behind, making the course a place of true relaxation for him.
