Born December 9, 1931 in Port-Au-Prince, Haiti, he was the youngest of seven children. He worked hard to support his siblings in Haiti. While there, he got an adventurous start in construction as a heavy equipment operator. Never satisfied, he continued to pursue growth and worked his way in to the field of pharmacy. In 1969, he came to the United States to build a better life for his family and he settled in Montclair, NJ. From that time forward, Gerard Sr. held several positions including working with the Montclair Grass Roots Program.
W\hile working with the Grass Roots Program, Gerard provided outreach to children in Montclair by supporting a space for children to enjoy the outdoors with the help of dedicated residents like himself. Gerard loved working with children and made many friends. He loved the town of Montclair so much that he chose to retire there.
Gerard built a large family and is survived by his sons, his daughters, many grandchildren, and greatgrandchildren. He was loved by his family and friends and will be sorely missed.
May his should rest in peace with the comfort of the Lord.
