Edmond M. Reed was born February 28, 1939 in Bay Saint Louis, Mississippi to the late James and Elise Reed. He spent his childhood in Bay Saint Louis, Mississippi and completed his early education and secondary education there as well.
Edmond attended Mississippi Valley State University (MVSU) where he met and fell in love with Melissa Parker. After graduating from MVSU in May 1962 with a Bachelor of Science Degree, Edmond served in the United States Army from 1962 to 1964 and was honorably discharged. After his time in the military he married his love Melissa at Saint Michael’s Catholic Church in Forest, MS on December 23, 1965 and then relocated to New Jersey where they raised their two children, Valerie and Chris.
Edmond had a love of teaching and working with the youth. He spent time working in three different schools in the Newark, NJ area. Most notably, he spent his last years at Barringer High School. He officially retired in 2004. He enjoyed life during retirement.
Edmond dedicated his life to being a service to others. He enjoyed cooking on the grill, working inside and around the home, spending time with his friends and family and taking vacations with his family. He was also an avid fan of the New York Giants, New York Mets, New York Yankees and the New York Knicks. He was a dedicated husband, father, uncle, cousin and friend. Edmond’s generosity and kindness touched many lives.
Edmond made his transition from this life on February 2, 2025, when God dispatched his angels to relocate him to his heavenly home. He was preceded in death by his parents, James & Elsie Reed; his two sisters, Joan Elsie Reed Scribner and Odile Reed Todd; and two brothers, Leroy Reed and Louis Reed.
He leaves to cherish his memories: his wife Melissa Parker Reed; his daughter Valerie Reed; his son Christopher Reed (Pamela) and grand-daughter Erica Reed; one brother Nolan (Philomena) Reed; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
