Ebony Brooks Obituary


 Ebony Ayanna Brooks, a Beloved Daughter, Sister, Aunt and Cousin, was the youngest of four children born June 30, 1977 to Charles and Jeanette(Davis) Brooks.  She was baptized into the Community of the Faithful at Holy Spirit Church, Orange; attended Holy Name Grammar School, East Orange;graduated from Glenfield Middle School, Montclair; Montclair H.S.; Douglas College, B.S.-Mathematics; Montclair State University,M.S.-Mathematics. Ebony participated in Montclair H.S. Lacrosse and Douglas College Track.
    Ebony began her teaching career in the Newark School System, later spending the majority of her time teaching at Rahway High School.  Through teaching, Ebony sought to inspire her students as she had been inspired by some of her teachers.  She enjoyed mentoring and tutoring, because of the focus employed.
    An accomplished artist from an early age, Ebony was right and left brain active.  She created fine-art; designed and fabricated fashion apparel and presented her designs in fashion shows in the tri-state area.  Ebony and her neice, Ayanna were fashionistas; attending Saturday Classes at FIT; designing and creating fashion apparel and shopping, together.  From an early age, Ebony loved Music and Performing Arts and was was a Social Activist. Culturally, Ecologically and Personally.
    Ebony was called to her eternal home on April 18, 2021.  Having lived as a person of Faith, seeking the Inspiration of The Holy Spirit, Ebony joins her Ancestors.  She was predeceased by her mother, Jeanette Davis Brooks and a nephew, Charles Jonathan Brooks.
    Ebony is survived by her father, Charles Brooks; her siblings, Charles(Gloria), Darex and Malik; her neices, Ayanna, Dylan and Morgan; her nephew, Charles and a host of cousins, who cherish the time the Lord shared her with them.
