Dorothy “Dot” Davis Wilson, passed away, peacefully, at home in Montclair, New Jersey on February 7, 2024.
Born in Pennsylvania and raised in Newark, New Jersey, Dot, the sixth and last child of Sallie and Joseph Davis, attended Barringer High school, after which she entered Howard University, majored in English and met the man she would later marry, Dr. Clarence N. “Red” Wilson.
Dot settled with Red in East Orange, New Jersey where he ran his dental practice while she at home, raised her daughters, maintaining a household where family and friends, kids and adults, would frequently gather, enjoying the fruits of her labor, such as her gourmet cooking, especially of Italian dishes.
She later moved to Montclair, New Jersey and continued with what she loved to do – read, listen to music, talk and play cards with friends and laugh. Dot, a devoted wife, mother and friend will be greatly missed.
Preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Clarence “Red” Wilson as well as her siblings – sisters, Irene D. Bigelow, Laura D. Lipscombe, Marie D. Biassey and brothers Lenwood and Ross Davis.
Dot is survived by her daughters, Michelle W. Holly and Candace D. Wilson; granddaughter, Kira E. Holly; grandson, Evan W. Holly and son-in-law, Thomas B. Holly, Jr., along with a host of nieces, nephews and very good friends.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 24, 2024, 2:00 pm at Martin’s Home For Service, Inc – 48 Elm Street, Montclair, New Jersey 07042.
