Dorothy Rawls was born May 12th, 1936, to the late Ed and Katherine Ham in Winston Salem North Carolina.
“Their wives likewise must be dignified, not slanderers, but sober-minded, faithful in all things”
1 Timothy 3:11
Dorothy was betrothed to the love of her life and best friend Otis Rawls. They first met in Miami Fla. Though their union they were blessed with 4 children: Mary Ann, Annette, Gregory and John.
On the morning of December 17th with her children by her side, The Lord allowed her to set her gaze upon her them one last time before
our precious mother peacefully transition into the master’s
arms, wherein she replaced her earthly garments and adorned herself in her heavenly robe to
join that great cloud of witnesses: her beloved parents along with her Mother-in law Lucille
Rawls, siblings: Rose Mary Jones and Mary Lee Elliott, Grandchildren: Ashley Shante and
Shamori.
Dorothy’s great strength, integrity and values were just the right ingredients for a luxurious
career in Mary Kay Cosmetics. She was introduced to Mary Kay by her cousin the late Dorothy
Passmore. Seeing the opportunity, she’d been waiting for lit a fire in her and then a Star was
born. Dorothy joined Mary Kay in the mid 70’s and was a part-time consultant while working
full-time as foreman and seamstress, with her eye on directorship all the while. Because of her
hard work and persistence, she quickly debuts as a Director in Mary Kay and after several more
years she became Sr. Director. Totaling over 40 years of dedicated service. Amongst the
countless awards such as diamond pendants and rings, she was a member of the $350,000 club
and she was invited to have lunch with Mary Kay at her home, but her crowning achievement
was winning that Pinks Cadillac! She was loved by the consultants in her unit, with great respect
and admiration she loved them. Dorothy was a woman of great faith, she never let anything
stand in her way. She had the spirit of a fighter and achiever, and she left a legacy for us all to
follow.
Dorothy was servant of the Lord. Serving at Christ Church under Dr. David Ireland as a director
in the greeter ministry for serval years until she moved to Georgia, where she became a member
of Trinity Chapel Under Pastor Jim Bolin. As her health began to fail, she would attend services
