Diana Josette Lopez-Diaz (née Lane), beloved mother, grandmother and friend to many passed away peacefully in her sleep on October 31, 2025 at the age of 79.
Born on November 6, 1945 in East Orange, NJ, she was the daughter of Gertrude Lane (née Brown) and John C. Lane. A loving mother and grandmother, Diana leaves behind her daughters Carla Lane and Deidra Lopez, son Charles Johnson II, and granddaughter Scout Fortney.
A lifelong resident of Montclair, Diana was a proud graduate of the 1964 class of Montclair High as well an alumnus of Montclair State University and Fairleigh Dickinson University.
A model and showgirl in her youth, Diana was a career social worker for Essex County, where she touched countless lives - especially for the LGBTQ community during the AIDS epidemic of the 1980’s.
Diana will be remembered for the joy she found in her family and friendships, her commitment to helping others and for always living life to the fullest.
