Cicily Yvonne Sommerville was born to Florence Sommerville on July 9th, 1941 in Manchester, Jamaica. At an early age her father migrated
to England and passed away.
As a child Cicily enjoyed baking and cooking with her mother. After the death of her mother, Cicily graduated Manchester High School and later moved to the hustling and bustling city of Kingston. During her time in Kingston, she obtained a job as a cashier in a restaurant.
In 1976, Cicily met Jasper Gordon while in Kingston and the two fell deeply in love. The relationship flourished. Jasper and Cicily migrated to the US and married on November 23rd, 1980. Along with Jasper came 2 beautiful daughters, Jasmine and Shermin, that Cicily became an amazing mother to. Not only were Jasper and Cicily husband and wife, they were best friends. Jasper would always say that they were “Romeo and Juliet”.
While in America, Cicily and Jasper worked very hard to accomplish their idea of the American dream. Cicily became a private nursing assistant to the reputable attorney Mr. Clinton Blake Towsend for many years until her retirement. Cicily and Jasper spent their retirement traveling abroad and enjoying each other’s company.
Cicily became ill in December 2020 and passed away March 2nd, 2021. She is survived by her husband, Jasper, daughters Shermin Findlay and Jasmine Hernandez. Grandchildren Kyandra Findlay, Gavin Reid, Jade Findlay, and Raven Hernandez. Great Grandchildren Josiah Joseph and Count Robert White, and a host of other relatives and friends.
