Ceyon Adassa Reynolds nee Sterling was born on December 23rd, 1931 (actual birthday December 24th, 1931) in Claremont Park, St. Elizabeth, Jamaica. She was the first child born to parents Maysie Sterling and Samuel Blake. She attended Pedro Plains Primary School.
Ceyon married her husband, Romney on June 30th, 1957. The union produced four children, a daughter and three sons.
Ceyon worked with the Postal Service of Jamaica for more than twenty five years. She was one of the youngest Postal Service employees to advance to the portion of Postmaster. She migrated to the United States in 1979 and settled in Montclair, New Jersey with her husband, Romney and their four children. She worked at Merrimac Industries in West Caldwell for approximately ten years before the Company downsized and closed the department in which she worked. She went to work at Chrill Care as a Home Health Aid in the early to mid nineteen nineties before retiring.
She enjoyed farming, sewing, crocheting and quilting. She always kept a garden where she would plant an assortment of herbs and vegetables. She crocheted doilies, hats and table clothes for family and friends. She developed an interest in quilting in her later years and was able to make several intricate designs.
Ceyon was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church in Montclair prior to becoming a member of The Church of the Epiphany, Orange (later renamed Church of the Epiphany and Christ Church) over twenty years ago. She was a member at both Churchs while in attendance. She was a regular member of St. Peter Anglican Church, Pedro Plains, St. Elizabeth, while in Jamaica.
Ceyon leaves to mourn her passing: daughter, Velora ‘Dawn’; sons, Michael (Lisa) and Donald ‘Dannie’ (Sandra); daughter-in-law, Donna; grandchildren, Thomas (Amy), Makayla Reynolds Harrison (Joey), Danielle, Corey, Emma, Jordan, Ashley, Cassandra and Dalena; great grandchildren, Sophia, Shayne, Shania, Aiden and Kaylee; sisters, Agnes Campbell, Doris Davis and Lillian Dinham; brother, Burnett Blake; step-sisters, Mary Vernon, Desline Brodie and Agnes Lewis; step-brothers, Desmond Brodie and William Hendricks; nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by husband, Romney and son, Isadore ‘Tom’.
