Bennie Osborne Obituary

Bennie Ruben Osborne was born on February 14, 1938
in Surry County, Virginia to the late Willie and Louise
Osborne. He attended L. P. Jackson Middle School but
quickly began working on the farm alongside his
parents and siblings. In his late 20’s, Bennie relocated to
Whippany, New Jersey where he got his first job.
Bennie worked at the Whippany Paper Board
Company for several years before beginning his career
at General Motors Co. There he worked as an
assemblyman building cars. While advancing his career,
Bennie met and married the love of his life, Lucille
Osborne. They raised both of their children in
Montclair, New Jersey.
Bennie retired in the early 2000’s and continues to serve
his community as a School Crossing Guard. He kept
working until he could no longer do so. Bennie was a
key figure in the lives of his grand and great grand
children. He enjoyed spending time with his family.
Bennie peacefully departed this life on June 18, 2023.
Bennie was preceded in death by his wife, Lucille, his
son Ruben and siblings Arthur, Snapper, Hardy, Viester
and Steve. Bennie is survived by his daughter, Diane
Ashburn, last surviving sibling, Joseph Wardell
Osborne, daughter-in-law Zul Zahiratu, Grandchildren
Kcydiima, Kcykiiyu, Delton, Great-Grandchildren
Kweli, Kiisaye, Khelile and Khelani, a host of nieces
and nephews and an abundance of other relative and
