Beatrice Smith (Bell, Brown) born November 11, 1932 in Bloomfield, NJ, to the late Euler Smith and Eugenia Black Smith.Beatrice was raised in Bloomfield, NJ and attended Bloomfield Public Schools, graduating from Bloomfield Senior High School. In her adult life, Beatrice lived in both Montclair and Orange NJ. She was employed at thePrudential Insurance Company, the Internal Revenue Service and later finished out her work years in the Records Department of the East Orange Veterans Administrative Hospital.Beatrice was a member of New Light Baptist Church, Bloomfield, NJ, New Hope Baptist Church of East Orange, NJ and St. Matthew AME Church, Orange, NJ.
Upon her retirement, Beatrice originally moved to East Orange with her husband, then on to his home town of Portsmouth, VA and remained there for ten years. When she returned to NJ, she settled into a Senior residence in Orange, NJ where she remained until her passing.
Some of Beatrice’s passions were music and fashion and she was an avid follower of professional tennis.
Beatrice is preceded in death by sisters, Eula Smith Carter, Jearlene Smith Sanders, Alberta Smith, Delores Smith Franklin, Clara Smith, her brothers, Theodore Smith, Elmer Smith, Charles H.Smith and her step-mother Love Day Smith.
She is survived by her sister Eugenia Smith King and step-brother Tommy Lewis, daughters Paula Jean Smith, Andrea Delise Smith and godson Dwayne Eddings. She is also survived by grandchildren: Andrea Nachelle Smith, Iris Enith Bragitah Smith, Aja Maia-Li Smith, Darius Perry Alexander Smith, and her great-grandsons, Bryan and Brandyn Smith, Omar and Makai Smith.
Beatrice is also survived by a host of other family members and friends whom love her and will miss her dearly.
