Beatrice Elizabeth Tyson Morton of Colonia, NJ died peacefully at home July 27th, 2026
Beatrice “Betty” Morton was born on November 26, 1938 at Newark Presbyterian Hospital to the late George & Bernice Tyson; Betty grew up in Montclair with her two younger sisters Rosalind and Bernice. Betty met the love of her life Ronald A. Morton “Ronnie” at the YMCA in 1951, graduated from Montclair High School in 1956 and married her Ronnie on September 7,1958.
Betty worked at the Midlantic National Bank on Bloomfield Avenue while in their first home on “Southern Terrace” before moving to Colonia in 1972. Betty was devoted to her family and took great pride in watching her children thrive in school cheering them on in football, band, color guard and beyond. Betty’s greatest joy was becoming a grandmother where her pride flourished, always with an encouraging smile celebrating their achievements while watching her grandson’s become gentlemen.
Betty had an artistic flare that showed in everything she did from transforming her home in to a utopia of lights for all to enjoy during Christmas or her ornate table settings that greeted family for Thanksgiving dinner. She also started her own business to further share her “one of a kind” craft creations bringing joy to many homes.
Betty and Ronnie traveled many places in their 64 years together but Aruba and anywhere their grandsons lived were their favorite destinations. A devoted NY Giant fan, Betty followed her team faithfully celebrating every victory and turning the channel before every defeat.
Beatrice is predeceased by her parents George & Bernice Tyson, sisters Rosalind and Bernice Tyson, husband Ronald A. Morton Sr., brother-in-law John Morton, sister-in-law Geraldine Woods, nephew Kyle Barton, great niece Paris Barton and her daughter Michelle A. Morton. She is survived by her sons Ronald A. Jr (Linda) and Jeffrey A. (Maria), grandchildren, Ronald A. III (Deja), Dylan A. (Jennifer), Jeffrey A. Jr., great-grand daughter, Rena Ellen, nephew Kieth Barton and sister in laws Janet, Delores, Barbara and Gloria. Betty will be deeply missed and forever carried in our hearts.
