Barbara Elizabeth Austin Greene, peacefully went home to glory Saturday, February 15, 2025, at the tender age of 95. Born on March 29, 1929, Mountainside Hospital in GlenRidge, NJ to the late Lawrence and Harriet ‘Hattie’ Austin. Barbara was baptized at an early age as 3rd generation at The Union Baptist Church of Montclair.
Educated in the Montclair school system and graduated Montclair High School in 1948. She embraced the love of her family and enjoyed being a homemaker. Upon the death of her husband, at the age of fifty she entered into the workforce at Grove Pharmacy for 32 years where she was affectionately known as ‘Barbara Hallmark.
Throughout her life she enjoyed traveling to the many locations of her daughter’s homes spending time with her family. Barbara had numerous nicknames such as Barbs, Aunt B, Baba, Barbershop, Aunt Barbie, Grandma, and G-Ma.
Barbara had a great love for sports, and enjoyed playing softball, and bowling into her senior years. She was an avid NY Yankees fan. Barbara was passionate about photography and capturing every moment. She loved country music and enjoyed dancing. She was truly the life of every party.
Barbara is predeceased by her beloved husband Harry D. Greene; brother William Austin, sisters Cordelia Edwards, Audrey Barber, and Joyce Williams.
She is survived by her loving daughters Linda Morton (Ronald Jr.), and Judith Puryear (Louis Jr.), and leaves behind a legacy of (5) grandchildren: Alexis Puryear(Donnie), Alahna Puryear(Mike), Ronald A. Morton III(Deja), Louis A. Puryear, III(Nicole), Dylan A. Morton(Jennifer) and (6) great grands: Kennadi, Greenlee, Adeline, Jaylynn, Korryn, and Savannah. She will also be remembered by her brother-in-law Dr. LeRoy Williams Jr., and sisters-in-law Dagma ‘Dolly’ McKay, and Captonia ‘Cappy’ Raymond, and her dedicated care giver Norma Jean Noel, and a host of beloved nieces, nephews cousins, family and friends
