Andrew F. Hageman, a devoted father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend, passed away on August 30, 2025, in Montclair, New Jersey, at the age of 83.
Born on October 5, 1941, in Trenton, New Jersey, Andrew led a rich and multifaceted life. Andrew showed exceptional artistic talent from an early age. As a teenager, he was accepted into a prestigious art program, where he refined his skills and developed a deep appreciation for the visual arts- a passion that remained with him throughout his life.
As an adult, he built a long and successful career as an attorney, known for his intellect, fairness, and dedication to justice. After retiring from law, Andrew pursued his creative passions more fully, finding new joy as a background actor in television. He made several appearances on popular shows, most notably Law & Order, a fitting role for someone so deeply familiar with the justice system.
Andrew also had a lifelong love for antique cars that extended beyond restoration, as he found joy in attending car shows and building a collection of automotive books and miniature car models.
He took pride in the craftsmanship and history behind each, sharing his enthusiasm with friends and family.
Andy was predeceased by his parents, Andrew and Doris Dade Hageman, his sisters Delores Fitzgerald (Bobbie) and Sandra Jackson (Randall), as well as brothers Samuel and Prince Hageman. He is reunited in peace with his family, including his late wife, Marjorie LaVerne, whom he shared many wonderful years of love, laughter, and partnership.
He is survived by his brother, Rodney Hageman (Della); a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends; his loving son, Christopher Hageman, daughter-in-law, Vionia, and his two beloved granddaughters, Andrea and Samantha. Those who knew him understood how deeply he cherished his role as a grandfather. To his treasured granddaughters, he was “PopPop”- a steady source of love, laughter, and encouragement. Andrea and Samantha were the lights of his life, and he took immense pride and joy in watching them grow.
His legacy of dedication, curiosity, and love for the finer details will live on through his granddaughters and all who had the privilege to know him.
