Alex Paul Obituary

Alex Horace Paul was born on December 1, 1951 to Elex Paul and the late Emma Gertrude Slaughter . He quietly passed away on the morning of December 8, 2019, after a long illness in Newark, New Jersey. He had just celebrated his 68th birthday on December 1st.

Alex or Horace as he was known to many  was born and raised in Anderson, South Carolina. He received his formal training in the public schools of Anderson County.  Alex later relocated to New Jersey to be closer to his mother in after graduating from high school.

Alex was employed by Newark Public Schools for 15 years. He later became the Supervisor of Housekeeping at Lincoln Park Nursing and Rehabilitation Center while also co-owning a cleaning business with his wife until he became disabled.

He loved to cook, fix cars,  play video games and watch wrestling on television. Sade was his favorite singer and he would often do Michael Jackson impressions around the house. 

Alex was preceded in death by his mother Emma Slaughter.

He leaves to cherish his memory; his father, Elex Paul; his wife, April Paul; sons, Alex( wife Sherlonda Richards), Jermaine, and Sean; daughters, Alexis and Shadiquah; brothers Andrew, Douglas, and Ricky; sisters Patsy and Diane, sister in laws Brenda Slaughter and Jean Crosby; granddaughters, Alexis, Shatoria, Amayah, Nakiyah and Laci; grandson Mykah as well as nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.

He will be missed by those who really knew him.

In memory of our loving father who gave us life, we will always remember your tender touch and warm smile. We cherish the good times that we shared. We know that you are finally home and at peace. We will love you forever.
