Aaron Braxton Sr., age 66, departed this earth October 3rd. Born January 1955 in Newark, NJ to Joseph Hopson and Majorie Braxton, he married the love of his life Cathy Braxton, and enjoyed 44 years of devoted marriage.
Aaron was a born naturalist and engineer, from collecting insects as a boy in Newark to becoming a masterful gardener later in life, he always strove to build and energize those around him with his attention to detail. He structured his world not simply in concordance with his own views, but rather in support of his family. He was known for his sound advice and sage council, his world class cooking, and most of all the level of effort with which he approached anything he did. He loved deep sea fishing, all manner of jazz, traveling with Cathy and friends, and held an intense passion for reading, particularly science fiction.
Aaron was a dedicated husband, father and grandfather who shared an incredible wealth of skill & knowledge. He was an Eagle Scout as a young man and made sure that his boys learned those same skills. He retired proudly after 25 years as a Bridge Operator for the State of New Jersey.
Aaron is survived by his wife Cathy Braxton, three sons, Aaron Jr, Joseph and Tadji Braxton, daughters-in-law Tanya Messado, Erin Braxton, Melissa Braxton, seven grandchildren Mikai, Lennox, Simone, Chess, Wyatt, August and Blake; brothers Gregory, Alvin and sister Christina, best friend Ralph Latta; god-daughter Alexandra, beloved sisters-in-laws Sharon Reed, Nel Chandler, Paulette Braxton, Calvin Reed, Sandra Richardson, Ron Reed Sr., Laura Reed, Philip Reed Sr., Monica Reed and beloved cousin Edward Philips and his many, nieces and nephews. All of whom he loved and held close throughout his life.
